Your Role: Performs hands-on tasks to assure quality of operations for the landscape department and managing a wide variety of equipment in accordance with approved company policies, procedures and to be available for service as needed outside normal operating hours. You will be expected to assist the Mowing Lead Technician in the mowing and maintenance of residential and commercial properties using mowers, trimmers, edgers, blowers, and company vehicles with trailers.

Your Role: Performs hands-on tasks to assure quality of operations for the landscape department and managing a wide variety of equipment in accordance with approved company policies, procedures and to be available for service as needed outside normal operating hours. You will be expected to assist the Mowing Lead Technician in the mowing and maintenance of residential and commercial properties using mowers, trimmers, edgers, blowers, and company vehicles with trailers.
Key Accountabilities:
Daily Operations:
- Maintain properties of PLI clients. (Mowing, chemical applications, irrigation maintenance, landscape installations and maintenance, installing & maintenance of trees & shrubbery).
- Ensuring safety procedures are followed in all operations.
- Coordinate and complete the inspections of PLI landscape equipment including performance of preventive maintenance and repair; housekeeping of vehicles, trailers, equipment and the PLI storage and maintenance areas.
- Ensure all mowers and equipment are loaded safely and tied down properly each morning.
- Complete necessary schedules, daily records & reports to ensure job activity is accurately recorded and work orders are submitted to Department Manager
- Advise Department Manager of issues and make recommendations for department improvements and equipment needs and replacements.
- Safekeeping and efficient use of PLI landscape equipment and supplies.
- Landscape operational areas include:
- Mowing of commercial & residential properties
- Chemical applications on commercial & residential properties
- Manage irrigation systems on several commercial & residential clients
- Design & install and maintain hardscapes & landscape for new and existing clients
- Prepare and install new turf areas via conventional seeding, hydroseeding, and sod
- Ensure all work is completed in a timely and safe manner
- Identify more efficient ways to perform daily work.
- Proper use of safety equipment and PPE
- Accurately capture and turn in timecards and mow logs
- Snow removal and de-icing for limited number of current clients
- Perform other tasks, new projects or maintenance services requested by new or existing or other duties as assigned
- Mowing operational areas include:
- Ensure equipment is in good working order and preventative maintenance is performed as needed
- Perform mowing and trimming on residential and commercial properties of commercial & residential properties

- Maintain efficiency of operations and safekeeping of tools, equipment and supplies.
Job Specific Competencies:
- Mowing and quality grounds maintenance of commercial, industrial, and residential properties.
- Basic maintenance of landscape equipment
- Safely operate:
- Single axle trucks and single or tandem axle trailers.
- Mowers, trimmers, edgers, blowers, chain saws, hedge trimmers, pole saws, and other landscape equipment.
- Aerators and verticutters
- Z-sprayers, truck, and tank sprayers as well as backpack sprayers and walk behind spreaders.
- Various hand tools
- Work in extreme environmental conditions.
- Exposure to cold, heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, chemicals, mechanical hazards, and ability to travel to different sites.
- Physical activities: Essential functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for considerable physical activity such as sitting, standing, walking, crouching, stooping, squatting, and consistently lifting up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 90 pounds.
- Availability for after hour service calls, most notably-irrigation leaks and snow removal
- Exercise good judgement, flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Valid Kansas driver’s license with satisfactory driving record to PLI insurance carrier
